On April 15, 1999 open the New Jersey Department of Education Assistant Commissioner wrote the negotiations, and public discussions. Chapter 19A of Title 6 of the Administrative Code." In plain English, local taxes cannot go up to fund Abbott requirements. Reinstate Julie Botel At the board meeting Assistant Superintendents Flaim, Figgs and Thayer submitted a written statement making the following points: Dr. Flaim, Dr.

Figgs, and Dr. Thayer state that Mrs. Julie Botel is one of the most talented, dedicated, competent and cooperative educators any of them have worked with during decades of educational experience. As Dr. Kohn had proposed, Flaim, Figgs and Thayer could absorb of Mrs.

Botel's duties until she is certified in June. Mrs. Botel would absorb an equal amount of work from them and add it to the 80 of her work for which she is certified. County Superintendent Glenn Earl has approved this plan. Solicitor DeSanto has confirmed that this legally resolves the problem technicality.

Dr. Flaim stated that he, Dr. Figgs and Dr. Thayer are already overworked. If Julie is not retained, many programs will be severly disrupted.

Kids and teachers will be harmed. This confirms that Mrs. Botel is clearly exceptionally qualified for all the duties she was assigned. It is crystal clear that Mrs. Botel did not have to be fired.

We must find a way to reinstate her. "To suggest that the district pursue a constitutionally-prohibited method of securing additional funds raising local property taxes (improperly) statements into the midst of a hotly contested school board election." Incidentally, David Sciarra, more any other man, is responsible for the millions of dollars of Abbott funding we receive from the State each year. Under pressure, on his radio show (WMVB 11:00 am), Medio stated that he had not meant that local school taxes could be raised; he meant we could vote on a referendum on raising money by a bond issue. Why would we do that, when the State is furnishing millions in Abbott funding? Annual funds from the State exceed $80,000,000 annually. On State Taxes When Medio, Bernardini and Giordano state that Abbott dollars, come from Vineland taxpayers one way or the other, they are deceiving you.

Vineland provides less than of the N.J. State Revenue. Of every $1.00 Trenton sends to us in Abbott funding, less than comes from Vineland. The State sends us Abbott dollars because good education saves the State money by lowering crime, reducing prison costs, lowering welfare and other social service costs and attracting business to the State. And State income taxes increase, because good schools ready our kids for better paying jobs.

Vineland Voters Must Unite! Vineland needs to unite to ensure that we continue to receive our fair share of the N.J. Supreme Court ordered Abbott Funding. Our children can not afford to have our Board of Education divided. We need our Board of Education to be ADVOCATES for our children. On Tuesday April 20, we must vote for a board that will show 1.

Respect to those who stand before it; 2. Return its focus to our children and their needs; 3. Reject getting personal with egos and attitudes that do not serve a useful purpose and stay true to the important issues. I have long been an advocate for our children and their educational needs, I ask you to join me in voting for the "Candidates That I agree with the Daily Journal's Wednesday April 14th, endorsement of Catherine Ravell, Bill Jannarone, and Joe Acosta. Rennoc Foundation and I have supported education, and other worthwhile causes very quietly. We have supported the kids through the Boy Scouts, the YMCA, Cumberland County College and by direct grants to the Vineland School District (for playgrounds equipment and toys and books for needy IMPACT kids). Such financial support is at least 200 times the cost of this ad. If this ad helps end the "Medio Madness" on the board, it will be the best money weever spent for kids and education. After all, as the Daily Journal said in its April 14th editorial, "the School Board's gridlock must end for the betterment of staff and students." Ordered and Paid for by Richard Conner 2991 E.
